Reading Fluency: The Neglected (but Necessary) Goal of Your Reading Program
Presenter: Timothy Rasinski, Ph.D.
If a student reads but doesn’t comprehend, is that truly reading? Fluency is an important predictor of reading comprehension and a key element of any successful reading program (National Reading Panel). Some students fail to achieve sufficient fluency to comprehend their reading and many teachers are unsure how best to help. In this workshop, Dr. Rasinski will provide the research on fluency and how it is the often neglected bridge to comprehension. He will share approaches to teaching this all-important reading skill that will move students toward better comprehension.
