Oakland, Calif. - June 17, 2009 - Two Florida schools, Auburndale High School and Lakeland Highlands Middle School, have been named winners in the BrainGain School Video Contest sponsored by Scientific Learning (NASDAQ:SCIL). The nationwide contest invited educators, high school students, and entire schools to create videos that demonstrate how they boost student learning and achieve "brain gains" using the Fast ForWord® and Reading AssistantTM family of products.
Auburndale High School in Auburndale, Fla. won the High School Students category, and Lakeland Highlands Middle School in Lakeland, Fla. swept both the Teachers and the Grand Prize winner categories. The videos were scored on the following criteria: creativity and uniqueness, effective communication of subject matter, compelling story and overall presentation. Best Buy gift card prizes were awarded to Auburndale and Lakeland Highlands as first place award winners in the High School Students category and the Teachers category, respectively. In addition, Lakeland Highlands received the grand prize of a video camera in a June 4th award ceremony.
