Oakland, Calif. - March 16, 2009 -Scientific Learning (NASDAQ:SCIL) today announced that the Utah State Board of Education has chosen the Fast ForWord® family of products as an approved language arts program for elementary students, and for English as a Second Language (ESL) students at the middle and high school levels. The products included in the adoption are: Fast ForWord Language Basics, Fast ForWord Language, Fast ForWord Language to Reading, Fast ForWord Reading Prep, Fast ForWord Reading 1-5, Fast ForWord Literacy, and Fast ForWord Literacy Advanced.
The adoption will be in effect through Dec. 31, 2012. Utah's 40 school districts and 994 schools can purchase the Fast ForWord software with funds designated for state instructional materials.
"We can't just do more of the same and watch students continue to struggle," said Wendy Bills, director of special education for the Murray City School District in Utah. "Current brain research gives us some answers. We have seen growth in the students at Longview Elementary who access the Fast ForWord software on a daily basis."
