OAKLAND, CA - 10/25/2006 - Martha Burns, Ph.D., director of the Clinical Specialty Market for Scientific Learning Corporation (NASDAQ: SCIL), last month conducted three well-received seminars in Australia presenting the latest findings on the effectiveness of the company's Fast ForWord® learning intervention products.

Dr. Burns spoke to audiences comprised of educators, professors, speech-language pathologists, parents and reading professionals in the cities of Perth, Melbourne, and Sydney in conjunction with Scientific Learning's two value added resellers in the country, Sonic Hearing and LearnFast. The goal of the Australia efforts, which marked the first time Scientific Learning has conducted seminars in that country, was to educate local professionals about auditory processing disorders and language and reading problems in children, as well as to discuss outcomes achieved with the Fast ForWord products locally.

"We were very pleased with the reception we received," said Dr. Burns. "The Australian educational and clinical community is extremely interested in learning about new interventions for reading and language problems, so we wanted to provide them information in a professional and educational way that highlighted new neuroscience research, discussed how the research impacts education, and finally, how our Fast ForWord products offer a unique and powerful intervention based on this research."

Dr. Burns discussed how the neurologically sound principles behind the Fast ForWord family of products create fast, meaningful, and lasting effects on students' ability to read and learn. The Perth seminar also included the presentation of preliminary data showing the effectiveness of the Fast ForWord intervention in Australian school trials. In addition, a Perth radio station interviewed Dr. Burns about the neuroscientific principles that underpin the Fast ForWord products.

"Dr. Burns was outstanding in these seminars," said Peter Carabi, Scientific Learning's Director of International Market Development. "Her extensive understanding of reading, coupled with her ability to clearly and in layman's terms draw the connection between the neuroscience and the differing needs of students with reading problems, made these audiences very receptive to the Fast ForWord message."

"She was able to present the complex neuroscience in a way that was understandable to the delegates, and her humorous style and examples enabled all of us who work with learning- and reading- disabled children to instantly recognize the types of children she described," added Devon Barnes, Director of LearnFast. "One attendee, a pediatrician, told me that Dr. Burns's 90-minute presentation was more useful than an entire two-day conference he attended recently at Sydney's main children's research hospital!"
