OAKLAND, CA - 08/15/2006 - Scientific Learning Corp. (NASDAQ: SCIL) has announced the release of its newest Fast ForWord® product, Fast ForWord Literacy Advanced. The neuroscience-based literacy product was specifically developed for secondary and adult education and is a companion to the successful Fast ForWord Middle & High School product.
"Fast ForWord Literacy Advanced further strengthens the foundational cognitive skills required for adolescents to read proficiently," said Sherrelle Walker, Scientific Learning's Chief Education Officer. Tailored to engage the interest of the adolescent or older learner, Fast ForWord Literacy Advanced offers advanced grammatical structures, provides immediate feedback on progress, has the ability to sequence multi-step instructions, and includes sequential and inferential comprehension questions. The product helps students build or strengthen the fundamental cognitive skills of memory, attention, processing, and sequencing, and expands foundational reading skills such as phonemic awareness, phonics, and word analysis.
Fast ForWord Literacy Advanced also builds on the language skills addressed in Fast ForWord Middle & High School through exercises that focus on listening comprehension and English language conventions. It is the 11th software product in Scientific Learning's growing Fast ForWord line.
