OAKLAND, CA - 04/04/2006 - Scientific Learning Corporation (NASDAQ: SCIL) has announced that that Delaware's Christina School District has been designated a National Reference Site. Christina joins a select group of districts nationwide that exemplify the outstanding use of the company's computer-based Fast ForWord(R) family of reading-intervention products.

As a National Reference Site, the Christina district will serve as a real-life resource for other school districts seeking advice on how to best utilize the Fast ForWord products to provide effective literacy support for their students. Thanks to its broad, district-wide use of the Fast ForWord products, Christina will also provide a research base for new Scientific Learning products and services.

According to Sherrelle Walker, Scientific Learning's Chief Education Officer, Christina was selected due to its superior implementation of Fast ForWord, educational excellence and strong results. Details of these results can be found at www.scilearn.com/results.

"The Christina School District offers cutting-edge instruction and employs the latest technology to enable students to learn effectively and reach higher standards," said Ms. Walker. "They are an outstanding example for other districts considering bringing in the Fast ForWord family of products, and we are excited to welcome them to our family of National Reference Sites."

"This is a real honor, and we are most excited to share the unique manner in which we have integrated Fast ForWord into our literacy program across the district so that it has become an integral part of our curriculum," said Margaret Sharp, Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction for the district. "We also appreciate the opportunity to become more involved with the development and enhancement of the Fast ForWord products."

Students in the Christina School District who used the Fast ForWord products over the 2004-2005 school year enjoyed outstanding results, improving on average from the 36th percentile in reading to the 47th percentile. Ms. Sharp said she is looking forward to working with districts across the country to help them improve their students' achievements using Fast ForWord.

"We have successfully 'connected all of the dots' in our literacy program, and Fast ForWord is one of those essential dots," she said. "Our students have benefited greatly from the use of Fast ForWord, and our reading achievement results paint the full picture."

Christina's Fast ForWord coordinators will answer questions from educators and officials nationwide to help them develop effective strategies for implementing the products in their own districts. In addition, Christina's educators will conduct seminars, open houses, and informational sessions and make presentations at national conferences and symposia. The district will also participate in research studies, surveys, and focus groups to help Scientific Learning refine the Fast ForWord products.

About Scientific Learning Corporation

Scientific Learning produces the patented Fast ForWord(R) family of products, a series of computer-delivered reading intervention products that build learning capacity by developing the neurocognitive skills required to read and learn effectively. These foundational skills are built through a series of brain-based exercises that create fast, effective, and enduring results. Based on more than 30 years of neuroscience and cognitive research, the Fast ForWord products use patented technology and applications of accepted neuroscience principles to help children, adolescents, and adults build the language and reading skills widely recognized as the keys to all learning.

The exercises align with the scientifically based reading-research guidelines and the requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act. The efficacy of the products has been confirmed by independent researchers by evaluating the results of standardized achievement tests, and by Scientific Learning's scientists.
