Senior Accountant

This is a regular, full-time exempt position reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager.

Position Summary

The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the general ledger accounting team in a variety of functions and various aspects of the monthly close process.  This position is also responsible for preparation and filing of multi-state sales and use tax returns.

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Assist with the monthly close process including preparation of monthly journal entries, account reconciliations and the preparation and analysis of financial statements.
  • Prepare month-end reporting and accounting package for review by the Controller and CFO.
  • Responsible for consolidations, foreign currency translations, income tax and commission accounting.
  • Assist with systems implementation including systems for accounts payable workflow and commission management.
  • Assist with accounting for trade receivables and payables.
  • Prepare analysis and reconciliation of sales tax accounts.
  • Prepare and file multi-state sales and use returns utilizing outsourced return preparer.
  • Answer notices and assessments from state and local taxing jurisdictions.
  • Assist with SOX compliance process including updating narratives, testing, maintaining and updating corporate accounting policies and maintaining the chart of accounts.
  • Work closely with external auditors and assist with the preparation of schedules for both quarterly reviews and annual audits.
  • Calculation and distribution of monthly sales commission reports.
  • Various ad hoc projects as needed.

Requirements

  • BA or BS in Accounting or Business Administration.
  • Experience in a public accounting firm (Big 4 preferred).
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of related work experience.
  • Must have extensive computer experience, more specifically with Excel and enterprise accounting systems.
  • Flexibility and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and detail-oriented attitude.
  • Strong people skills, ability to work well with all levels within the organization.
  • Personal attributes should include a high level of motivation, ability to multi-task, the ability to take initiative in problem, and the enjoyment of a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
